Artist Statement
A balance between form, color, movement and play are the foundation of all of my work. The images that spiral through my consciousness bounce between realism and abstraction and the result brings thoughts of things both familiar and otherworldly.
The elements in the compositions have a relationship with organic forms. I studied biology and anatomy and my early artwork focused on the human figure. Once I started to move away from realism, references to these natural forms remained in and informed my work.
I hope to create environments where everyone’s mind can wander into the compositions and create their own story of what they see and what it means.
“Painting is the thundering collision of different worlds, intended to create a new world in and from the struggle with one another, a new world which is the work of art.”
~Wassily Kandinsky
